Calculation formula
Volume = area × (thickness in mm ÷ 1000); for coverage per 1 mm, weight = area × coverage × thickness; for coverage per layer, weight = area × coverage. Then add the allowance.
Example: For 20 m², a 5 mm layer, coverage of 1.7 kg/m² per 1 mm and a 10% allowance, the estimate is about 187 kg of compound.
Frequently asked questions
Which coverage format should I choose?
Check the units on the bag. Choose the first option when the label says kg/m² per 1 mm, or the second when it gives a rate for a fixed layer thickness.
Why can two compounds need different weights for the same volume?
Dry-mix weight depends on the formulation and the manufacturer’s rate, while layer volume depends only on area and thickness. The calculator does not replace the product instructions.
