Calculation formula

Layers = ceil(required thickness ÷ one board thickness); purchase volume = area × layers × board thickness; boards with allowance = ceil(area × layers × (1 + allowance / 100) ÷ board area).

Example: If 100 mm is required and each board is 50 mm thick, 2 layers are needed. For 20 m² with 100 × 60 cm boards, the estimate is 67 boards before allowance.

Frequently asked questions

What happens when one board is thinner than the required layer?

The calculator rounds the layer count up. For example, 100 mm with 50 mm boards means 2 layers, and the purchase volume uses the full 100 mm build-up.

Does the calculator recommend the correct thickness?

No. A project or thermal calculation should set the thickness for the wall, floor or ceiling assembly and local climate.
