How Much Wall Filler Do You Need for a Room?

Estimate wall filler from the area that will actually be covered, the number of coats, the average thickness and the product’s stated coverage. A dry-room filler is not automatically suitable for a bathroom, so choose the material and the calculation inputs together.

Choose the system before calculating

• Confirm the room conditions and the finish: paint, wallpaper, tile or another coating.
• Check compatibility with concrete, plaster, drywall or an existing coating.
• Record the permitted thickness and number of coats for each product.
• Take coverage from the actual pack and include a realistic waste allowance.

Dry rooms

In a bedroom or living room, the choice often focuses on even absorption, sanding behaviour and compatibility with paint or wallpaper. The base must still be firm, clean and free from active moisture.

Kitchens and wet areas

Steam, splashes and changing conditions may require a system approved for that exposure. In a bathroom, filler, primer, waterproofing and the finish can each have separate requirements; do not make an unsuitable product appropriate by adding primer alone.
