Calculation formula

Volume per board = length × width × thickness; coverage area = length × width. By area, board count = ceil(required area ÷ one-board coverage), then the allowance is added.

Example: A 4 × 0.15 × 0.025 m board has a volume of 0.015 m³ and covers 0.6 m². Twenty boards are 0.3 m³ and cover 12 m².

Frequently asked questions

Does this include gaps between boards?

No. Coverage uses the geometric board width. For a deck or floor with planned gaps or tongue-and-groove details, include a practical allowance.

Can it calculate load-bearing capacity?

No. That requires span, supports, timber grade and loads, which is a separate engineering calculation.
