Calculation formula

Paint volume = area × number of coats ÷ coverage × (1 + allowance / 100).

Example: For 43.11 m², coverage of 10 m²/l, two coats and a 10% allowance, the estimate is about 9.48 litres.

Frequently asked questions

Can I treat the coverage on the tin as exact?

No. It is a product-specific guide for stated conditions. A smooth primed surface and an absorbent textured substrate can use very different amounts.

Is primer included in the paint volume?

No. Primer is a separate material. It can reduce substrate absorbency, but its own volume should be estimated separately.
